Spring Time is a Great Time to Buy a Home

I didn’t even realize until somebody mentioned it late in the day but today is the first day of Spring.  Michigan winters don’t usually bother me but for some reason this one really got on my nerves and I am happy to see it go!  I took a ride up M29 last Sunday from New Baltimore to north of Saint Clair and there was hardly any ice on the river.  Yesterday I looked closely at my grass and I am pretty sure I actually say a few green blades of grass trying to peek through.

Spring is on its way indeed and it’s a great time to buy a home. Spring time is always a great time to buy a home because you get all spring, summer and fall to work in it and put your own personal touches on it before the cold weather returns.  This spring is an especially great time to purchase a new home because on top of the great weather that’s headed our way, we are in the midst of one of the best buyers markets in decades.

Consider the following:

  • Interest rates dipped below 5% this week
  • Prices are at levels not seen since the mid-1990’s or later in some areas
  • The government is giving first-time buyers an $8000 tax incentive to buy a home

To help educate anyone who is considering purchasing a home in the near future, I am part of a team that is conducting 2 free upcoming classes at our office in Chesterfield:

March 23 at 7pm – Buying Investment Properties

  • Learn how to purchase HUD foreclosed properties, bank owned foreclosures, and Short Sales (Pre-foreclosures)
  • Learn how to analyze purchase costs, repair costs and holding costs to determine what price you should pay to protect your profit
  • Learn about what conventional as well as creative financing options are available to you to help finance your deals

March 30 at 7pm – 1st Time Home Buyers Seminar

  • Learn the entire home buying process from before you even look at a house right through to the closing table
  • How to take control of your home search so you are seeing the homes that fit your needs and not the ones a Realtor wants to sell you
  • How to find the best prices in the best areas
  • How to become pre-qualified for a mortgage and why it is critically important to you as a buyer
  • How to determine how much house you can afford

We will be providing dinner (pizza and pop) at both classes so we ask that you RSVP if you plan to attend so we know how much food to provide.

Fell free to call me or email me with any questions.  If you want to come to one of the above classes but cannot attend I will be happy to sit down with you at your convenience to review the material with you.
